History,Wallpapers, Pictures, Details & Thoughts Swami Vivekananda

Swami Vivekananda (January 12, 1863 - July 4, 1902) is one of the most inspiring personalities of India, who did a lot to make India a better place to live in.
within a short span of time. Swami Vivekananda was born to Vishwanath Dutta, an attorney and Bhuvaneshwari Devi who was a pious lady. He was born of his
mother's prayers to Lord Shiva, Vireshwara of Varanasi who appeared in her dream and promised her of begetting Himself as her son.Swami Vivekananda's
hectic schedule played havoc on His health. He suffered from asthma and diabetes and other ailments. He spent His last days in the Belur Math.
He shed His body while meditating on July 4th 1902. A temple was later erected on the spot chosen by Him in the Belur Math where He was cremated.

Swami Vivekananda letter 2-11-1893

Men are taught from childhood that they are weak and sinners. Teach them that they are glorious children of immortality, even those who are the weakest in manifestation. Let positive, strong, helpful thought enter into their brains from the very childhood. Lay yourselves open to these thoughts, and not to weakening and paralyzing ones. Say to your own minds, "I am He [pure, free, immortal spirit]," "I am He [pure, free, immortal spirit]."  -Swami Vivekananda

"All differences in this world are of degree, and not of kind, because oneness is the secret of everything."
-Swami Vivekananda

"We are responsible for what we are, and whatever we wish ourselves to be, we have the power to make ourselves. If what we are now has been the result of our own past actions, it certainly follows that whatever we wish to be in future can be produced by our present actions; so we have to know how to act."
-Swami Vivekananda

"Tell the truth boldly, whether it hurts or not. Never pander to weakness. If truth is too much for intelligent people and sweeps them away, let them go; the sooner the better."
-Swami Vivekananda

"Religion is the greatest motive power for realizing that infinite energy which is the birthright and nature of every man. In building up character, in making for everything that is good and great, in bringing peace to others, and peace to one's own self, religion is the highest motive power, and therefore, ought to be studied from that standpoint. Religion must be studied on a broader basis than formerly. .."
-Swami Vivekananda

"Those who grumble at the little thing that has fallen to their lot to do will grumble at everything. Always grumbling they will lead a miserable life.
But those who do their duty putting their shoulder to the wheel will see the light, and higher and higher duties will fall to their share."
-Swami Vivekananda

"The goal of mankind is knowledge , Now this knowledge is inherent in man. No knowledge comes from outside: it is all inside. What we say a man 'knows',
should, in strict psychological language, be what he 'discovers' or 'unveils'; what man 'learns' is really what he discovers by taking the cover off his
own soul, which is a mine of infinite knowledge."
-Swami Vivekananda

"Just as a physicist, when he has pushed his knowledge to its limits, finds it melting away into metaphysics, so a meta physician will find what he calls mind and matter are but apparent distinctions, the reality being One."
-Swami Vivekananda

"The first sign of your becoming religious is that you are becoming cheerful"
-Swami Vivekananda
